Signs Are Looking Up for H&H Reeds

14th September 2020

Following business growth despite the pandemic, Cumbria’s leading print, design and graphic media agency moves to H&H Borderway, a new Carlisle-based creative hub.

This week sees an office expansion for one of Cumbria’s largest and most progressive creative print and graphic media companies, H&H Reeds, part of H&H Group. The move will see 10 staff relocate to the headquarters of its parent company, H&H Group, in Borderway, Carlisle. A lot has been going on for the company, with strong growth in 2019 and lockdown providing a chance to double down on investment in technological upgrades, H&H Reeds has been able to make great strides in building capacity to take on critical projects. This includes ongoing collaborations with the NHS and Local Authorities to supply both signage and protective screening.

This move to Borderway marks the latest evolution in the company’s ongoing development plan and follows the successful acquisition by H&H Reeds of noted web development agency, Dotcom Associates, earlier in May. This merge enabled H&H Reeds to add further expertise to their impressive portfolio of print, digital and signage services, and has helped grow the business operations to the point that additional office space is now required.

Commenting on the move, Andy Jackson, Managing Director of H&H Reeds, said: “To see our offices expanding in what are otherwise very challenging times is extremely encouraging. From winning Cumbria’s Best Ethical Green Business Award at the end of 2019, to our merge with Dotcom Associates in May, this latest development demonstrates that we are continuing to go from strength to strength as a company.

“I have no doubt that moving to this new creative hub will allow us to be more streamlined and efficient as a business; helping us to reach our full creative potential. We also hope that the move to Borderway will not only make things more easily accessible for staff, but also importantly benefit the local economy and help us increase our customer base across Cumbria and the Scottish Borders.”

H&H Reeds, who pride themselves on their green and ethical credentials, have been providing bespoke, multi-faceted services for 142  years. Their services range from creative design and digital solutions to producing signs and graphics. With the lockdown acquisition of a new reel printer the company has been able to step into new markets with the capacity to print on fabric for high quality large format printing. In addition, keen to deliver solutions for all types of businesses and all types of commercial needs, H&H Reeds has strategically invested in a new CNC Router which can create precise stand-out lettering for large signage on a range of materials.

Commenting on the expansion on behalf of H&H Group, Richard Rankin, Chief Executive said: “This comes as another exciting and important development for both H&H Reeds and our Group as a whole. I am delighted that in spite of COVID-19, the plans have been able to go ahead. Based at Borderway, we hope that the move will allow H&H Reeds to have closer ties to its sister companies, delivering fuller integration of the businesses within the group and the scope to open up markets with existing clients. I have no doubts that as a result of this move, the agency will be able to provide greater presence and an even stronger customer experience all round.”

The restructuring of the business continues to progress and the move to the office in Carlisle will fully join up operations between the design, web development, printing and signage operations. Results have already been seen, with new clients coming to H&H Reeds even since the pandemic hit. Currently, activities are serving NHS needs, and the company reports that during lockdown production adapted to include over 400 bespoke protection screens, more than 100 foamex warning panels and paper posters, and 1500 of the now very familiar COVID-19 vinyl floor roundels. Customers on their list range from Local Authorities and Carlisle United to retail parks, beauty salons, hotels, retailers, bakeries and many more.

Signs are clearly looking up for H&H Reeds and further expansion is projected with the team actively recruiting. During a time of difficultly with mounting economic pressures and increasing reports of jobs losses across the country, these opportunities to join the Borderway-based team could not have come at a better time.
