Auction Sale of Cumbrian Farm Exceeds Expectations28th April 2016
Michael C L Hodgson has held the successful sale, by auction of the 17 acre Hale Head Farm achieving 11% more than the overall guide price.
Situated close to Milnthorpe, Hale Head Farm was the former home of the nationally renowned Londsdale Shetland Ponies. This smallholding, which included a 3 bedroom family farmhouse, a range of equestrian facilities, high quality meadow and pasture land, and amenity woodland, was sold in 4 Lots.
Three Lots, which included paddocks, meadow and pasture land were highly sought after, and bidding was brisk with the overall average for the 15.4 acres achieving £12,200 per acre. The 10.6 acres located in and around the Holme Parish sold for, in excess of £13,000 per acre.
Smallholdings of this type, in this area of Cumbria are increasingly few and far between and the sale of the house, two paddocks and equestrian facilities attracted interest from potential purchasers from a wide geographical area.
