As the latest Upland Farming Course, delivered by the University of Cumbria and supported with bursary places by H&H Group, draws to a close, we are pleased to share an update from one of the programme's recent farm visits.
The group spent a morning at Croglin High Hall Farm, where they had the opportunity to see first-hand the wide range of diversification initiatives that support the farm business. These included tourism, timber production, Environmental Land Management schemes and innovative grazing practices.
The feedback has been that it was an excellent and informative visit, generating valuable discussion and giving participants practical insight into the opportunities and challenges of running a resilient upland farming business.
A NEW course is to run shortly ref Trees on Farms & Fells and is aimed at upland farmer diversification, specifically looking at accessing grant and governmental support for integrating trees within their farming systems.
