H&H Land & Estates celebrates CAAV examination success for Olivia Barker and Alice Fawcett
H&H Land & Estates is celebrating the success of two members of its professional team after Olivia Barker and Alice Fawcett, both Rural Surveyors, have qualified with the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV).
The CAAV is the specialist professional body representing and qualifying practitioners involved in agricultural and rural property work throughout the UK. Its members provide professional advice and valuation expertise on issues affecting the countryside from tenancy matters to sales and purchase of farms and land, from taxation and compulsory purchase to auctioneering, and from conservation issues to farming structures.
Olivia Barker, who is based at the H&H Land & Estates Staveley office, studied MSc Rural Estate Management at the Royal Agricultural University. Coming from a farming background, Olivia has developed a strong interest in land management and rural property and has combined her academic studies with hands-on industry experience. Passing the CAAV exams marks an important milestone in her professional development as she continues her career as a Rural Surveyor.
Commenting on her success, Olivia said, “I was over the moon to receive the news that I had passed my CAAV exams and relieved that my hard work had paid off. I look forward to continuing to progress in my role both professionally and academically, by applying the knowledge gained in my day-to-day role and continuing to study towards my RICS qualification to become a Chartered Surveyor.”
Alice Fawcett, based at the H&H Land & Estates Carlisle office, is currently in her final year of the Rural Enterprise and Land Management degree apprenticeship course at Harper Adams University. She has a strong practical grounding in agriculture, regularly working on the family farm and within the wider rural industry. An active Young Farmers member with her own small flock of sheep, Alice brings both practical and professional insight to her role. Her success in the CAAV examinations reflects her determination to build expertise across all aspects of rural surveying and agricultural consultancy.
Alice said, “I’m incredibly pleased to have passed. The exams are challenging, as the syllabus is very broad and covers a varied and wide range of topics, but the experience has really helped develop my knowledge and confidence. I’d like to thank everyone at H&H Land & Estates for their support and guidance while I was preparing and I am looking forward to using the knowledge gained to support farmers in my day-to-day job.”
The CAAV examinations are widely recognised as demanding, requiring a high standard of technical knowledge and practical understanding of rural property, valuation and professional practice. And, as CAAV members, both Olivia and Alice are now qualified to provide professional advice and valuation expertise on issues affecting the countryside from tenancy matters to sales and purchase, auctioneering, and from conservation issues to farming structures.
Mark Barrow, Director & Chartered Surveyor, at H&H Land & Estates said, “We are extremely proud of Olivia and Alice on passing their CAAV examinations. These professional qualifications require a significant commitment, and their success is a clear testament to their commitment, ability and professionalism. Both have worked exceptionally hard, and they are thoroughly deserving of their recent achievements.
“It is hugely rewarding to see the next generation of Chartered Surveyors and Valuers showing such dedication and commitment to succeed. Olivia and Alice are an integral part of our expanding team, supporting clients with advice across a broad range of rural issues throughout the north of England and into southern Scotland. Supporting professional development across H&H Land & Estates remains a key priority for the business.”
