Today, we celebrate a remarkable milestone—Margaret Irving’s 30th anniversary with H&H! As a valued colleague and a dear friend to many, we want to take a moment to recognise her incredible journey with us. Please join us in congratulating Margaret on this amazing achievement!
Margaret began her career with H&H on January 30, 1995, in a part-time role, sharing the “office down the corridor” with Ian Jefferson and Andrew Gornall. She had transitioned from Lothian’s Accountants in Carlisle, bringing her expertise and warmth to the team.
Her office’s location meant that nearly everyone passed by her door, and it wasn’t long before she had built strong friendships throughout the company—including with the electronic auction team, where she formed a lasting bond with Irene Reay.
In the early 2000s, the leadership team encouraged Margaret to pursue her CIPD qualification. Demonstrating her dedication, she completed much of her studies in her own time—often in the early hours of the morning! Her hard work paid off, and in August 2002, she became H&H’s Personnel Manager, later progressing to Company Secretary for the H&H Group Non-Executive Board. She also serves as a board member for the Employees’ Trust.
Beyond her professional achievements and back in the day, Margaret was well known for her regular visits to the coffee machine—where, as the story goes, she met Mark! The two eventually tied the knot during the Covid pandemic in August 2020.
Those who know Margaret well will agree that she is passionate about her family (especially her grandchildren), her dog, her cats, walking and fitness.
On behalf of everyone at H&H, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for her dedication, hard work, and the positive impact she has had over the years.
Congratulations, Margaret!
