Hosted by Glyn Lucas, a passionate advocate for British farming and a world-renowned Senior Auctioneer with Harrison & Hetherington, ‘The One and Only’ podcast series creates a platform for people in the agricultural world to share their opinions, stories, and experiences of the sector. To date two podcasts have been released, the first focussing on the Dairy sector, “The Digital Diary Chain”, in the second dairy Farmer Hugh Kennedy and Alistair Herd from Herd’s Media share their stories.
“We want to bring listeners in every corner of the farming community up close and personal with the movers and shakers of the agri-business world, and with people just like them,” says Glyn Lucas. “The H&H Group has deep roots in every aspect of rural life, and we know that for many people in agriculture life is tough, particularly in the current climate of uncertainty. We hope ‘The One and Only’ podcasts will help lighten the load a little bit, entertain and inform our listeners, and reassure them that they’re not alone.”
Published on the 20th of each month, ‘The One and Only’ podcasts focus on agricultural themes in discussions with guests including farmers, stakeholders, and friends of the industry, illustrating a more personal, human version of life with H&H. The June episode welcomes Boomer Birch, Beef Programme Manager for Cogent and owner of pedigree Hereford & British Blue cattle, and Ali Jackson, Owner of the Tiptop Flock prefix & Stockman for Solway View.
“The main point of each episode is for the guest to share their life story and their views, and nothing is off limits – stories, jokes, opinions and advice. We want real stories with complete honesty, right from the heart, and the first two episodes seem to have hit exactly the right note. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and we have a wonderful line-up of guests for the next episodes who I am certain will appeal to our growing audience.”
You can listen to ‘The One and Only’ first two podcasts through Spotify and Apple Podcasts:
1. The Digital Dairy Chain – What’s It All About?
In this episode Glyn Lucas chats to Stuart Martin, Programme Director for the Digital Dairy Chain initiative, based in Dumfries and Galloway.
Many milk producers, processors, dairy suppliers and breed associations have been talking about this new initiative, so Glyn asks Stuart to give an insight into why this programme was established and its purpose.
2. Herd’s Media & Hugh Kennedy share their stories
Glyn talks to Alastair Herd of Herd’s Media about the range of media services he offers to help agri-businesses across the North and Scotland.
And Hugh Kennedy, winner of the John Dennison Lifetime Achievement Award at Dairy Expo earlier this year, explains how he built his famous Stair Holsteins herd on the foundation of top cow families such as Chief Faith, Roxy and Supra.
Episode Three is out tomorrow on the 20th!
