Farmers and landowners are invited to a Woodland Walk to see how forestry can play an integral part in their farming future.
H&H Land & Estates are inviting farmers and landowners from across Cumbria to spend a morning finding out how significant woodland management can be in contributing to a sustainable farming business.
Guests are invited to join the H&H Land & Estates team at the Winderwath Estate near Penrith on Thursday 23rd March for a morning of key environmental grants updates, and forestry and woodland discussions. The morning will conclude with a walk round the Winderwath Estate’s latest woodland planting, opportunities for questions and lunch.
The event will be hosted by H&H Land & Estates Forestry Manager Sarah Radcliffe. “We’re hosting this event focussed on the theme of ‘Trees on Farms’ to help farmers and landowners understand the benefits of planting woodland on their farms. Over the past 10 years we have managed a series of felling operations on the Winderwath Estate and guided the Estate through the approval and planting of a new woodland creation project at Adrian’s Wood. So, this is a perfect venue to give farmers a first-hand experience of how woodland can work for them, along with all the information and advice they need to help them make it happen.
“In my 14 years of experience helping farming and landowning clients manage their woodland successfully, there has never been a time when this aspect of land management has been more important. The current changes in Government support for farming make it absolutely imperative that farmers make the most of every single form of support for their businesses, and woodland offers opportunities they need to take advantage of.”
Woodland and Forestry event at Winderwath will include a series of talks on from members of the H&H Land & Estates’ Environmental and Forestry team, on agro-forestry, current grants and support available for farmers, followed by a farm walk around Adrian’s Wood and lunch.
Commencing at 10.15am, and concluding at 1.45, this specialist forestry event is taking place at The Barn on the Winderwath Estate , post code - CA10 2AP.
