Masham Agricultural Discussion Group – 9 March 2023

H&H Land & Estates Director, Tim Sedgewick, has been invited to discuss the history and heritage of the H&H Group and the outlook for the agricultural industry and livestock sectors, to the Masham Agricultural Discussion Group in North Yorkshire, early in March.

The Masham ADG is a highly respected forum for farmers and related agricultural business leaders in North Yorkshire for sharing views and ideas on the issues facing the industry. The group offers a platform for leading political and professional guest speakers, and members have presented the farming cause in Parliament on more than one occasion.

With heritage dating back to almost 150 years ago, the H&H Group Plc operates as a holding company with its subsidiary companies operational across livestock marketing, auctioneering, land management and property sectors, as well as commercial print, digital marketing, insurance.

Operating eight auction marts, its livestock trading company, Harrison & Hetherington, is the appointed auctioneer for all major beef, dairy and sheep breed societies throughout the UK. Borderway Mart in Carlisle is UK’s largest and leading livestock sale centre, handling 800,000 head of cattle and sheep annually, and providing a service to sellers and buyers from all geographic locations, including Europe.

H&H Land & Estates, which has just launched a specialist environmental and forestry division, is one of the North's leading Chartered Surveyors, Agricultural Land Agents and Valuers. As Director of H&H Land & Estates, Tim, who is based in its Durham office, will discuss the heritage of the Group, future plans and aspirations  for the business, and what he believes is the outlook for the  agricultural industry. Scott Donaldson Managing Director of Harrison & Hetherington will discuss the future of livestock trading, and Managing Director of H&H Insurance Brokers will give an update on Farm Insurance.

More than 90 farmers are expected to listen to what Tim and his colleagues from H&H have to say, and commenting Tim said: : “I am delighted to have been invited to speak at this noted discussion group and to have the opportunity to share our experiences with such a knowledgeable group of farmers at Masham.

“H&H is a diverse business with a range of interests, and across all of the businesses we are working continually with farmers from across the UK. So I am looking forward to not only presenting  how the Group has grown and evolved,  but to having an open discussion about the future of farming and what we believe are the opportunities going forward.”

A deep understanding of farming heritage and the practical demands of farming is an essential ingredient in the H&H Land & Estates service to the farming community. Alongside his many professional qualifications, Tim Sedgewick comes from farming stock and is a partner in his family’s farming business close to the South Durham border with North Yorkshire.
