H&H Land & Estates launches a dedicated Environment & Forestry Division, helping clients navigate successfully through policies, pitfalls, and opportunities.
H&H Land & Estates have announced the creation of a dedicated in-house Environment and Forestry Division to provide clients with the integrated support of leading environment and forestry specialists. The move reflects the accelerating shift in Government policy that puts environmental sustainability ever more firmly at the heart of the UK’s farming, forestry, and land management future.
The broad range of services provided by these experts in their field include: technical advice on working with environmental schemes and advice on how these fit with current schemes and farming objectives, grants for capital works and the new Sustainable Farming Incentive together with specialist advice for Common Land, and guidance on Nutrient Neutrality and Biodiversity Net Gain; with the added benefit of an in-house Ecologist providing Environmental Surveying and Metric 3.1 calculations. The two members of the team providing specialist expertise in forestry management will cover Woodland Management Plans; Planting; Woodland Creation Schemes; Felling; Contractors Agreements, and Clerk of Works.
Leading the team as Head of Environment & Forestry is Tracey Jackson, H&H Land & Estates Associate and a highly regarded Chartered Surveyor. The team will include David Morley, Environment and Conservation Manager, highly respected and very well-known across the region for his knowledge of Environmental Schemes; Sarah Radcliffe, a highly qualified Forestry & Woodland Manager; Will Livesey, Environmental & Woodland Advisor; Chartered Surveyor; Nick Mullins, who has a First-Class degree in Environmental Science; Chris Gill, a Farm Business and Environment Advisor; and Environment and Conservation Assistant Sarah Collier. The team will also draw on the support of Dr Julia Aglionby, the highly respected Executive Director of the Foundation for Common Land and Chair of the Uplands Alliance.
Mark Johnson, Managing Director of H&H Land & Estates, said of the division, “The evolution of our capability and renowned expertise to include this dedicated and hugely important team will benefit both new and existing clients alike. The professionalism and desire to continually improve our business for our customers is testament to our fantastic people.”
Working alongside H&H Land & Estate’s Land Agency Team and Property division, the Environment & Forestry Team will help clients across the full spectrum of environmental challenges in land and project management, ensuring that all opportunities are maximised, and legislative requirements are met.
Tracey believes that the concentration of the company’s already formidable line-up of specialist experts, in a fully coordinated unit, will offer clients unique assurance in navigating the confusing landscape of changing environmental regulations, grants, opportunities, and risks.
“Protecting and enhancing the environment is now a key consideration in every aspect of our farming and land management clients’ planning. How someone manages their farm or their forestry is affected by a whole range of environmental restrictions and incentives. Now we can now focus all our expertise in the advice and support we can give them to optimise their outcomes.”
With offices in Carlisle, Cockermouth, Durham, Kendal, and Penrith, H&H Land & Estates are one of the North’s leading Chartered Surveyors, Estate and Letting Agents, and Valuers. Already providing a full range of professional farm, land and forestry management services to their clients, the comprehensive expertise of a dedicated Environment team adds a major new dimension of value to the business and its growing client base, to meet the demands of changing policy and emerging opportunities.
The government recognise a productive agriculture sector will work alongside ambitious environmental targets, improving the natural environment, alongside food production. With funding being channelled into farming businesses as payments for environmental goods and services, H&H Land & Estates are well set up to help clients manage their agricultural businesses alongside tapping into available government funding and other income streams as they emerge, as Government seeks to encourage private funding to achieve these environmental goals.
Tracey concludes, “Looking to the future there are many sustainable milestones to be met. We believe that in further developing our own Environment & Forestry offering here at H&H Land & Estates we are ensuring that we provide the very best advice and support to help clients achieve the most successful, sustainable future.”
