Autumn stocktake at H&H Reeds benefits local schools with a delivery of some fantastic materials
Whilst undertaking an Autumn stock-take, staff at H&H Reeds decided to recycle their surplus paper stocks by donating to four schools in the Penrith area.
As one of Cumbria’s largest printers, there is inevitably excess paper and card that cannot always be used. The team is passionate and proactive when it comes to recycling and minimising waste, so donating their surplus materials to those who can benefit from it was key. In addition to their ongoing campaign to reduce the company’s carbon footprint it is also part of H&H Reeds’ mission to work with, support and keep in touch with their local community.
The primary and junior schools which have received this special delivery include: North Lakes School, Beaconside Primary School, St Catherine’s Primary School and Brunswick Road School.
Gareth Rylands, Print and Production Manager at H&H Reeds, said “We were delighted to be able to put what could have potentially been waste to such good use. We made sure the excess stock, a mixture of card and paper, was all cut down to ensure it was user friendly for the schools. As a business we’re always striving to do our best to care for the planet and the local community, and this ticked both boxes for us!”
With so many schools under financial pressure this paper donation from H&H Reeds could not have come at a better time as it coincides with the festive period which is always a creative time in the classroom. Giving feedback on receiving this delivery, a representative from St Catherine’s Primary School said, “We are extremely grateful for the very kind donation of paper and card from H&H Reeds.
“Especially on the run up to Christmas, when the pupils enjoy so many creative craft lessons, this donation will save us so much money and allow the teachers to plan without having to scrimp and save.
“A very welcome treat which will last well into the New Year! Thank you!”
Brunswick Road School agreed, “We are so grateful for the donation of the paper we have received from H&H Reeds. At this time of the year we have so many art and craft activities, the paper will be in great demand!”
The environment and sustainability are at the core of H&H Reeds’ business, as well as recycling their paper to local schools, they have had a long-term partnership with the Woodland Trust Carbon Capture scheme, and always look to source environmentally friendly material for their signs and print departments as well as using carbon neutral website hosting in their digital departments.
