Harrison & Hetherington prepare for Christmas Show and Sale
Harrison & Hetherington is gearing up for its annual Christmas Cracker show and primestock sale at Newtown St Boswells Auction Mart on Monday 6th December.
This year’s sale includes in the region of 50 pairs of lambs. Judging the sheep classes is Ryan Briggs of Briggsy’s Butchers in Jedburgh who is a regular buyer.
Since it was first held in 2012, this sale has become a key sale for the Scottish Borders in the run up to Christmas. It offers butchers from across the Central Belt, Scottish Borders and northern England an excellent opportunity to purchase the very best prime lambs for the festive period.
Bringing extra Christmas cheer, this year the sale will also include a Charity Christmas Jumper Day. This is to raise funds for The Margaret Kerr & Palliative Care Unit at Borders General Hospital, who provide care and support in the local area.
Speaking ahead of the sale, Harrison & Hetherington Auctioneer, Adam Grieve said: “This sale is a fantastic showcase of the excellent stock produced in the Scottish Borders and surrounding areas; it’s the best sale in the December calendar here at St Boswells.
“The Charity Christmas Jumper is a great addition to the day and a fun way to raise money for a cause close to us all. We hope our customers will get into the festive spirit and join in the fun.”
As well as Christmas jumpers, Doreen Hedley, who runs the Dining with Doreen Canteen at the mart is kindly putting together and donating a hamper for the same cause. To be in with a chance of winning tickets will be available to buy at the Prime Cattle Christmas Show on Monday 29th November as well as at Monday 6th December’s Prime Sheep sale.
The closing date for entries for the Christmas Show and Sale is 5pm on Friday 3rd December, and each animal can only be shown in one class. To enter livestock, please contact Harrison and Hetherington on 01835 822214 or visit their website at www.harrisonandhetherington.co.uk.
