Honister slate mine was ‘home’ to Richard Rankin, CEO for a night earlier this week, when he took up the cold sleep challenge to launch this year’s Cumbria Community Foundation Winter Warmth Appeal.
Sadly, in a typical winter 300 older people die in Cumbria because they face the harsh reality of fuel poverty.
