British Heart Foundation
Our first nominated charity for 2018 is the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer. The British Heart Foundation is the nations heart charity and the largest independent funder of cardiovascular research. Founded in 1961 by a group of medical professionals wanting to fund extra research into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart and circulatory disease.
But the landscape of heart disease is changing. More people survive a heart attack than ever before, and that combined with an ageing population means more people are now living with heart disease and need our help.
Today the BHF fund thousands of research projects around the UK that are fighting heart disease. They also help millions of people every year with up to date information about heart disease so that the UK public are better informed.
Please visit the BHF website for more information.
