Commercial Marketing Executive – Livestock + Machinery

Closing Date: 30th October 2026
Interview Date: TBC

H+H is undergoing a significant brand and organisational transformation, bringing its established businesses together as one unified organisation. One H+H connects seven areas of expertise through a shared identity, a clearer customer offer and a more joined-up way of working, rooted in our Rural Matters positioning.

Livestock and Machinery are at the heart of H+H’s heritage, trading activity and relationships with rural communities. We are looking for a Commercial Marketing Executive to connect our auctioneers, machinery teams and customers with the shared H+H marketing function.

This is an opportunity for a proactive, commercially minded marketer who enjoys being close to frontline activity. Livestock and machinery marketing can be fast-paced and reactive: alongside planned campaigns, you will need to respond quickly to sale activity, results and emerging opportunities. You will help H+H tell its own story first, turning a busy calendar of markets, sales and events into timely marketing that attracts buyers and sellers, celebrates results and introduces customers to more of H+H.

You will help build a shared marketing function that connects specialist capability with commercial priorities, strengthening customer relationships and supporting growth across H+H.

The role

You will be the dedicated day-to-day marketing partner for Livestock and Machinery, working across marts, sales teams and local operations.

You will understand upcoming priorities, gather customer insight and prepare clear briefs for our functional Marketing Managers. You will coordinate information, deadlines and approvals, ensuring marketing reflects the needs of the sale and the customers we want to reach.

Your contribution will be in understanding, connecting, briefing and following through. You will work with shared specialists for campaign, content, digital and event delivery, with the Marketing Director setting overall direction and priorities.

Key responsibilities

Maintain the portfolio calendar covering sale dates, entry deadlines, major auctions, seasonal activity and events.

Build working relationships with auctioneers, machinery colleagues, mart managers and local teams.

Gather buyer and seller feedback, regional insight and relevant competitor information.

Prepare briefs with clear audiences, commercial objectives, approved sale information, deadlines and response routes.

Coordinate pre-sale promotion, entry reminders and buyer communications, and respond quickly to sale results and post-sale stories so H+H communicates significant results accurately and promptly through its own channels.

Support targeted acquisition and reactivation activity for new and lapsed buyers and sellers.

Gather customer evidence, photography requirements and sales material needs, securing factual checks and permissions.

Identify appropriate introductions to wider H+H expertise and track enquiries, entries, registrations and participation with commercial colleagues.

Work closely with both functional Marketing Managers, the Content Creator / Designer and the other Commercial Marketing Executives to share insight, agree briefs and coordinate campaigns across H+H.

Identify cross-selling opportunities from livestock and machinery relationships, brief relevant campaigns with the other executives and ensure introductions reach a named commercial owner.

Keep portfolio social media platforms current and publish approved content within H+H’s agreed channel strategy.

Plan portfolio content and campaigns with the functional Marketing Managers, agreeing audiences, topics, timing, objectives and cross-selling opportunities.

Coordinate expert input and assets with marketing colleagues; monitor responses and improve activity.

About you

We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded marketer with a genuine interest in agricultural trading and machinery. You will enjoy being close to the action, spending time at marts, talking to customers and working with auctioneers and sales teams. You will be

organised enough to plan ahead, but responsive enough to recognise when an opportunity needs acting on quickly.

You will bring:

· Experience coordinating marketing activity and producing clear, useful briefs.

· The ability to manage several deadlines and keep sale information accurate.

· Confidence building relationships with operational and customer-facing teams.

· Good written communication and an understanding of campaign planning and customer targeting.

· Confidence using customer feedback, CRM information and results to identify opportunities.

· An understanding of the importance of data protection, customer permissions and appropriate approval processes in marketing communications.

· The ability to question fragmented activity constructively and work within shared marketing processes.

Qualifications

A marketing or related qualification would be beneficial; relevant practical experience is equally valuable. Experience of agriculture, auctions, machinery, database campaigns or multi-site trading would be an advantage.

What we are looking for

You will be proactive, approachable and commercially curious. You will understand the importance of local relationships while helping the organisation plan and communicate more consistently as One H+H.

Why join H+H

H+H brings together expertise in Livestock, Machinery, Land + Property, Environment, Consulting, Insurance and Financial Services. Our One H+H approach connects that expertise around the needs of rural customers, helping them access more of what we can offer.

You will join a marketing function being reshaped to support commercial growth, improve customer experience and strengthen H+H’s presence around Rural Matters. Our H+H Way guides how we work: Pull together, See it through, Fair + straight, Rooted in our community and Never stand still.

Alongside a competitive salary, our proposed benefits package includes the following, subject to confirmation for this role:

· 20 days annual leave (which increases with service) plus bank holidays and a birthday holiday.

· Additional holiday purchase scheme and enhanced company pension contributions.

· Income protection cover for long-term sickness absence

· Employee Assistance Programme and an annual paid volunteering day.

· Employee discounts and access to a discounted private medical scheme.

· Enhanced family-friendly policies and long service awards.

· Financial support for eye tests and DSE glasses, a candidate referral scheme and Cycle to Work scheme.

Location and travel

The role is based from H+H’s Carlisle head office but requires regular time across our marts and other locations throughout northern England and southern Scotland. Attendance at sales, agricultural shows and other events is an important part of the role and will occasionally involve early starts, evenings or Saturdays.

If you want a marketing role rooted in rural trading, with the opportunity to support customer participation and wider commercial growth, we would love to hear from you.
